Day 2...MOTIVATION!!!

So, here is the reason I'm suddenly so gun-ho about losing weight:

Shortly after the wedding last September, I noticed stretch marks on my stomach where they had never been before. After that, I started to try and watch my weight, but with my love for Mnt Dew and Dr Pepper and too many trips to BK and Jack in the Box, the pounds just kept coming.

About a month ago, someone snapped a picture of me at the lake and it made me do a double take when I saw myself tagged in it on FB. My self-esteem crumbled instantly. But I still had excuses in my mind like, I can't start now, my knee hurts, it's too cold to go for a walk today...but those excuses are gone!!

While I'm at it, I'm curious to see just how much weight my husband will lose too. I guess I'll have to judge by the size of his belly, because I'll probably never get him on a scale. My husband gained serious weight in a short amount of time. He returned home from working on a farm in Kansas in Oct 2009 when his little sister passed away of cancer. 6 months later, a close friend of his ODed.  After that, he was in such a depressed state, the weight just packed on and all the muscle he'd gained working as a farm hand turn right into fat. I hope that if everything works out for me and my goals, he'll set some too.

Good news is, I weighed myself Tuesday (yeah, a day off, sorry) and I weighed exactly what I thought I did. Good? Maybe, still not sure. I also started working with myfitnesspal.com yesterday and I pretty much think it's the best thing EVER. I'm planning my meals a day ahead now and plugging them into the food counter to keep myself on track. Today, the only thing I deviated from was an added half can of Arizona Mucho Mango that my co-worker bought me. But I didn't drink the whole thing!! Whoot!!

Yesterday, I went on a 40 minute, fast paced walk with our dog, Riley, my husband and our friend. My hubby and friend whined the whole time but it's going to be good for them too!! They are going to lose weight with me whether they know it or not. Ha!!

Oh, one more thing I'm adding to my daily work out is counter-push ups. I read about them online a few years ago and you basically can do them at any time (I do mine when I'm making dinner). You hold on to the edge of the counter a few paces away and do pushups. Its a lot better than having to get down on the floor and, like I said, you can do them while you cook!!

I'm feeling super motivated about all of this, and this comes even after a bad night last night. I was SOOO hungry when we went to bed that I caved and eat more food. BUT I was told that to stop that after workout hunger, I need to have a banana or, even better CHOCOLATE MILK. I don't remember why but it helps fill up some of the room you make after your work out.

Oh, I'm starting a new page up top by the about me and my plan...it's going to be tips I learn from people when we talk about losing weight and working out. Check it out!!

Day Before

Hi and welcome to my blog. Tomorrow, I start working towards the short and long term weight loss goals. For more about those, see the "About Me" page. Tomorrow I will get a on a scale for the first time and see my "clock in" weight. Every Monday, I'll check my weight and report back here on how everyday went and if I'm keeping with my goals.
I'm very fortunate to have a husband who is going to keep me on track and support me 100% (who knows, maybe it will rub off on him too!!)
